Salespeak is an AI agent that answers buyers on your website. The Attio app, Salespeak Inbound AI, sends every conversation with a known email to your Attio workspace as a person, a company and a note. This page covers setup, what is written and read, and how to disconnect.

On this page: Connect · What Salespeak writes · Attribute mapping · Notifications · What Salespeak reads · Permissions · Disconnect

Connect

You need a Salespeak account and an Attio workspace admin to approve the connection. There is nothing to install in Attio.

No Salespeak account yet? Start free, then connect Attio from Integrations. The free plan includes 25 conversations a month, and the Attio integration works on it.

  1. In Salespeak, open Integrations.
  2. Under Available Integrations, find Attio and click Connect.
  3. Attio shows the access request with the permissions listed under Permissions. Click Confirm.
  4. Attio sends you back to Salespeak. The Attio settings page shows “Connected workspace” with your workspace name.

On connect, Salespeak creates two attributes on people in your workspace: Salespeak lead (checkbox) and Salespeak last conversation (timestamp).

Salespeak writes leads to one CRM per workspace. If another CRM is connected in Salespeak, disconnect it first, or leads will keep going there.

What Salespeak writes to Attio

Salespeak writes when a visitor shares an email address in a conversation. A conversation with no email writes nothing.

People

Salespeak finds the person by email address and creates them if they do not exist. A new person gets the name the visitor gave. An existing person keeps their name.

The two Salespeak attributes

Every lead has Salespeak lead checked and Salespeak last conversation set to the time of the conversation. Use them to filter records and build views of the people who talked to your agent.

Companies

Attio links a new person to the company that owns their email domain. When that company has no name, Salespeak sets the name the visitor gave. An existing company name is never replaced. Free mailbox domains such as gmail.com are ignored.

Notes

Each conversation adds one note to the person. The title starts with “[Salespeak conversation]” and the topics. The body has the conversation summary, topics, pain points, intent with the reasoning, the visitor’s details, the full transcript and a link to the session in Salespeak. If the same conversation continues, Salespeak updates that note and does not add a second one.

List entries

Optional. On the Attio settings page in Salespeak, choose a list under Add leads to list. Salespeak adds each lead to that list. Choose “None” to turn this off.

Attribute mapping

Mapping fills your own attributes from the conversation. It is optional: name, email and the two Salespeak attributes are written without it.

  1. On the Attio settings page in Salespeak, open the Person or Company tab.
  2. Click Add field mapping.
  3. In “Salespeak Session Information”, describe what you want in plain words, for example “The visitor’s job title” or “When the visitor plans to make a decision”.
  4. In “Attio Attribute”, pick the attribute to write to.
  5. Optionally set a default value, then click Save.

After a conversation, Salespeak answers each mapped line from what the visitor said and writes the answer to the person or company. When the conversation does not contain the answer, Salespeak writes your default value, or leaves the attribute unchanged if you set none.

Company mappings are written to the company linked to the person’s email domain. Relationship, user, interaction, name and location attributes cannot be mapped and are not offered in the menu.

Notifications

A notification alerts your team when a person or company that matters to you starts a conversation. Set them on the Notifications tab of the Attio settings page in Salespeak.

  1. Click Add notification and name it.
  2. Choose where it is sent: email, Slack, or both. Slack needs the Slack integration connected in Salespeak.
  3. Add rules on Attio attributes of the person or company, for example a status value.

When a known visitor starts a conversation, Salespeak reads their person and company records, checks the rules, and sends the alert with a link to the session if they match.

What Salespeak reads from Attio

  • A returning visitor’s person record. When a visitor whose email Salespeak knows comes back, the agent reads their record so the conversation reflects what your team already knows.
  • Person and company attributes used by your notification rules and your mappings.
  • Your attribute definitions and lists, to fill the menus on the settings page.

Salespeak does not read emails, calls, tasks or deals, and it does not read records unrelated to a visitor it is talking to.

Permissions

The app asks for five permissions. Each one maps to a feature above.

PermissionWhat Salespeak uses it for
Read and write records Create or update the person for a visitor who shared an email, set the two Salespeak attributes and your mapped attributes, name the company, and read a returning visitor’s record.
Read and write object configuration Create the Salespeak lead and Salespeak last conversation attributes on people when you connect, and list your attributes in the mapping screen.
Read list configuration Show your lists in the “Add leads to list” menu.
Read and write list entries Add the person to the list you chose.
Read and write notes Write the conversation note on the person, and update it when the same conversation continues.

Disconnect

  1. In Salespeak, open Integrations.
  2. In the Attio row, click Disconnect and confirm.

Salespeak removes the connection and revokes its access to your workspace. Records, notes, list entries and the two Salespeak attributes stay in Attio. Your list choice and mappings in Salespeak are removed, so set them again if you reconnect.

Questions

Does Salespeak overwrite data my team entered in Attio?

Salespeak never changes the name of an existing person or company. It sets the Salespeak lead and Salespeak last conversation attributes on every lead, and it writes the attributes you mapped. A mapped text attribute is rewritten each time that person has a new conversation, so map only attributes you want Salespeak to keep current.

How long after a conversation does the data appear in Attio?

The person appears a few seconds after the visitor shares an email. Mapped attributes follow in about a minute, and the conversation note in about two minutes.

Can I use Attio together with another CRM in Salespeak?

Salespeak writes leads to one CRM per workspace. If HubSpot, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Zoho CRM is also connected, Salespeak writes to that CRM and not to Attio. Disconnect the other CRM to send leads to Attio.

Does Salespeak create deals or tasks in Attio?

No. Salespeak writes people, companies, notes and list entries. It does not create deals or tasks, and it does not receive webhooks from Attio.

What happens to the data in Attio when I disconnect?

Nothing is removed. People, companies, notes, list entries and the two Salespeak attributes stay in your workspace. Salespeak stops writing and loses access.
